Every January brings a wave of predictions. Most recruitment businesses do not need more trends to follow. They need a clear view of where effort and budget will make the most difference. These are the five areas we would prioritise this year.
1. Get found in AI answers
Clients and candidates are increasingly asking AI assistants for recommendations. Agencies that structure their websites clearly, publish citable content and build third-party proof will be named. Those that do not will be invisible in a growing share of searches.
2. Fix the basics of your website
A fast, mobile-friendly site with clear sector pages, accurate jobs and a short apply process still beats any campaign. If your website is slow, generic or hard to use, start there.
3. Connect your systems
Re-keying jobs, chasing CVs from email and guessing which channel produced a placement all waste consultant time. Connecting your ATS, website and job boards removes the admin and gives you the data to spend your marketing budget wisely.
4. Make business development consistent
The agencies that grow steadily are the ones that keep winning new clients in their busiest months. Whether through dedicated BD time, a structured content programme or an automated BD platform, consistency matters more than bursts of activity.
5. Invest in brand
In crowded markets, brand is what makes a client remember you and a candidate choose you. That means a distinctive identity, a clear specialism, consultants with strong profiles and, for many agencies, employer branding services for clients.
What to stop doing
- Posting only vacancies on social media.
- Publishing generic blog posts nobody searches for.
- Paying for job board slots without tracking results.
- Running a website that looks like every competitor's.
The common thread
Each of these priorities rewards specificity. The clearer you are about who you recruit for and why you are good at it, the easier every marketing channel becomes.
